Charitable Donation Tax Deadlines for 2023 (US Taxpayers)

If tax-deductibility in 2023 is important to you, we encourage you to make any planned donations well in advance of these deadlines. Our experience is that delays can occur with any payment method, most notably when working with a bank, broker, or other third party to initiate a transaction. Be sure to consider holidays and weekends when submitting your end-of-year gift to ensure adequate processing time.

This information is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute tax, legal, or financial advice. We recommend speaking to your tax accountant, lawyer, or financial advisor for specific tax, legal, or financial advice for your situation.

You can follow the links below to complete your donation.

Credit card, bank account (ACH), or PayPal
Donations must be received by 11:59 PM EST on December 31, 2023.

Credit card and PayPal donations are typically received shortly after the transaction is submitted and you will receive a receipt within a few minutes. However, donations made from your bank account typically take multiple business days to be received, depending on your bank. You will receive a receipt as soon as your transaction is complete.

Checks
Must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2023.

Due to an increase in mail fraud and potential mail delays, we encourage you to consider instead making a donation via bank transfer (ACH), which is secure and has a negligible transaction fee, or one of our other donation methods.

Wire or bank transfer
Must be received by 11:59 PM EST on December 31, 2023.

Cryptocurrency
Must be received by 11:59 PM EST on December 31, 2023.

Stocks/securities
Must be received by 11:59 PM EST on December 31, 2023.

Please note we won’t be able to confirm receipt of donations after December 29, 2023, as our staff will not be working on December 30 and 31.
